Assessment of Temporary Radioactivation for Tissue Expanders in Breast Radiation Therapy: Preliminary Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: As breast tissue expanders consist of metallic materials in the needle guard and ferromagnetic injection port, irradiation can produce radioactivation.Materials Methods: A CPX4 (Mentor Worldwide LLD) expander was exposed using Versa HD (Elekta) linear accelerator. Two photon energies 6 10 MV-flattening filter free (FFF) beams with 5,000 monitor units (MU) were irradiated to identify types radiation. Furthermore, 300 MU MV-FFF beam by varying machine dose rates (MDRs) 600, 1,200, 2,200 MU/ min. To assess instantaneous (IDRs) solely from CPX4, a placed outside treatment room after irradiation, portable radioisotope identification device used radiation measure IDR.Results Discussion: After delivery expander, energy spectrum whose peak 511 keV found MV-FFF, while there no resultant one MV-FFF. The time each measurement 1 minute, mean IDRs 0.407, 0.231, 0.180 μSv/hr for three successive measurements. Following indicated around background level first regardless MDRs.Conclusion: institute entry protocol varies according working hours occupational doses, we suggest an addition minute institutes’ own patients case radiotherapy vaults equipped maximum MV beams.

PURPOSE Temporary tissue expanders (TTE) with an internal magnetic metal port (IMP) have been increasingly used for breast reconstruction in post-mastectomy patients who receive radiation therapy (XRT). We evaluated XRT plans of patients with IMP to determine its effect on XRT dose distribution. METHODS AND MATERIALS Original treatment plans with CT simulation scans of 24 consecutive patients...
متن کاملSkin Reaction in Radiation Therapy for Breast Cancer
Introduction The first medical intervention for many breast cancer patients is breast conserving surgery (BCS) and/or modified radical mastectomy (MRM). Most of these patients undergo radiation therapy, following surgery. The most common side-effect of breast radiotherapy is skin damage. In the present study, the severity of acute skin changes and the underlying causes were investigated in pati...

this study investigates the cohesive devices used in the textbook of english for the students of psychology. the research questions and hypotheses in the present study are based on what frequency and distribution of grammatical and lexical cohesive devices are. then, to answer the questions all grammatical and lexical cohesive devices in reading comprehension passages from 6 units of 21units th...
Microbial Biofilms and Breast Tissue Expanders
We previously developed and validated a vortexing-sonication technique for detection of biofilm bacteria on the surface of explanted prosthetic joints. Herein, we evaluated this technique for diagnosis of infected breast tissue expanders and used it to assess colonization of breast tissue expanders. From April 2008 to December 2011, we studied 328 breast tissue expanders at Mayo Clinic, Rochest...
